If you're interested in learning to knit 2 socks at 1 time using the magic loop method, the best way is to start out with what I call "Buddy Socks".
Up until last month I owned a yarn shop in our town. This is how I taught this class. Each class participant would buddy up with another classmate. They would knit 1 of their own socks and their "buddy's" sock. This makes it very easy to know which yarn goes with which sock.
Toe up socks are easy to try on as you go. (Unless you're knitting for someone else). I taught the Fleegle heel method. You want to start the heel about 4" shorter than your foot length, or when it meet the point where your foot attaches to your leg.
Finished!
The pattern and instructions for buddy socks is here on my blog.
Title of post is "Sometimes you just gotta knit"
Have fun!
